Getting started, and the questions people ask.

Three steps to your first day in the diary, then plain answers. If yours is not here, write to us.

Getting started

Three steps to tomorrow's hearings.

  1. Sign in with Google

No card, and nothing to install.

  2. Add a matter

Add your first matters, or look around the sample chamber first.

  3. Open Today

Today lists the day's hearings and the next working day's list.

Questions

Plain answers.

Do I need an account to use the library?

No. Bare acts, the old-to-new section tables and the judgment lists open without signing in. Searching judgments and keeping a diary are in the app, which opens with Google sign-in.

Which judgments can I search?

Selected records of the Supreme Court, the Rajasthan High Court and the Allahabad High Court. It is not every judgment of those courts, and other courts are not covered yet.

Where do hearing dates come from?

From you. Type a date, or paste text from eCourts or upload a saved cause list and the dates are read from it. Legal World never fetches eCourts for you and never fills in the CAPTCHA.

What does the quote check do?

You give it a passage and a judgment. It marks the passage "Found word for word" with its paragraph, or "Not found". It compares words only; it does not say whether the precedent is still good law.

Does it write my drafts or answer legal questions?

No. Drafts start from templates you fill in. Old IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act references are flagged with their BNS, BNSS and BSA counterparts, the citations are listed for you to tick, and the draft downloads as Word after your review. The review is yours.

Does it work in Hindi?

Yes. The website and the app run in English and Hindi, you can search by section number in Devanagari, and Hindi legal terms get English matches suggested.

Who can see my matters and my clients' details?

Only you and the colleagues who accepted your invitation, each according to their role. The page on your data answers this and what is protected in full.

What does it cost?

It is free during the beta. Your own diary stays free, and the price of any paid plan will be published before a charge starts. No card is stored.

How do I download or delete my data?

From Settings you can download your data and delete your account. Both ask you to sign in with Google again first.

Something is wrong. What do I do?

Use Report a problem once you are signed in, or write to us from the contact page. Say what you did and what you saw; your matters and files never go with a report.
